The Winthrop Marathon is in sunny and scenic Winthrop, WA where the sun shines more than 300 days out of the year! The race is a Boston qualifier with a pre-race meal, artistic locally
made medals for all finishers, a catered post race meal with local micro brew and live music by The Pine Hearts all in beautiful and
sunny Winthrop, WA! What more could you ask for?!
The Courses
Starting on the edge of the of the Pasayten Wilderness in the Okanogan
National Forest at an altitude of 3100ft the marathon course loses 1000ft in the
first 10 miles as it follows the wild Chewuch River to the "western"
town of Winthrop. In all, the marathon loses 1450ft and gains just 150ft for a
net loss of 1300ft. The half marathon, which begins at the half way point in the marathon course, loses 520 feet and only gains 130 for a net loss of almost 400ft.
